05-May-2010
BMT Syntek Technologies, a subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, the leading international maritime design, engineering and risk management consultancy, is delighted to announce that it has secured a $9,924,836 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract from the US Department of Defense. The scope of the project includes research and development of various alternative technologies associated with advanced power system management and analysis as part of the development of the Next Generation Integrated Power System (NGIPS).
The prime objective of NGIPS, as defined by Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), the largest of the Navy's five system commands, is to produce affordable power solutions for future surface combatants, submarines, expeditionary warfare ships, combat logistic ships, maritime prepositioning force ships, and support vessels. Within its remit BMT Syntek Technologies will also perform system-level performance analyses of NGIPS architectures and their associated components. It will also analyze the impact of the projected performance on ship mission equipment and quality of operation.
Jim Davis, President at BMT Syntek Technologies, commented: "We are delighted to have the opportunity to apply our expertise in naval power systems and program management to the challenges being faced by the Naval Sea Systems Command. We look forward to extending our relationship with the US Department of Defense."
The work will be performed at BMT Syntek Technologies' offices in Arlington, Virginia, and Severna Park, Maryland and is expected to be completed by January 2015.
